RESEARCH ARTICLE FORENSICS LEAD TO FINDS OF MISCONDUCT
In a major news article, Nature magazine describes how an investigation prompted by "data sleuth" David Sanders and conducted by the Ohio State University has led to findings of research misconduct against two researchers. The conclusions were based upon forensic analyses that relied upon information Professor Sanders had generated using his image-analysis and plagiarism-detection techniques. The investigations have also led to sanctions for the principal investigator of the OSU laboratory. In an interview, Dr. Sanders described the nature of the infractions and his concern that journals were not taking appropriate and speedy action.
