Congratulations to Dr. Daisuke Kihara on being named the 2013 Showalter University Faculty Scholar

07-15-2013

Dr. Daisuke Kihara

A Showalter Scholars Program was established at both Purdue University and the IUSM in 2013 by the Showalter Trust Selection Committee. In establishing the Scholars program the Selection Committee outlined the following goals:

"The Selection Committee believes that the Scholars initiative will create technology transfer to promote Indiana business through new inventions; will accelerate the pace of successful young investigators in their path to fully funded, full-time, research careers; will enhance overall research success in the respective institutions; and should generate resources for the institutions through additional grant funding and creation of valuable intellectual property."

The program provides support for three faculty Scholars in 2013 and will increase steadily to reach a steady state of 15 Showalter Scholars. Scholars receive a discretionary allocation for a period of five years from the Showalter Trust, which is matched equally by Purdue University. Selected individuals will be known as Showalter Faculty Scholars
