Regulation of cell signaling by fic-mediated post-translational modifications

The Mattoo Lab takes a multidisciplinary approach to studying the functional repertoire of Fic (filamentation induced by cAMP) proteins in prokaryotic and eukaryotic signal transduction. Fic proteins are a newly discovered family of enzymes that carry out diverse post-translational modifications, predominantly adenylylation/AMPylation – i.e., the covalent attachment of AMP (adenosine monophosphate) to the target protein – to alter cellular signaling.
