Tourette Syndrome is a complex disorder characterized by multiple, persistent motor and vocal tics and affects approximately 0.6-1% of children worldwide. Led by Dr Paschou and with support from a new NIMH R01, an international team of collaborators from nine different countries will pursue the largest neuroimaging and genetics studies for Tourette Syndrome to date, pooling, harmonizing and jointly analyzing worldwide datasets. The study will shed light into the neurobiology of Tourette Syndrome and related neurodevelopmental disorders and identify biomarkers that could help tailor individualized management approaches. Besides Purdue University, collaborating sites include University of Southern California and Washington University St Louis as well as 18 different clinical sites who will be contributing genetic and brain MRI data.
