About me: I am interested in how people learn biology. I want to understand how expertise can be developed, specifically the use of mechanistic thinking to explain complex living systems.

About my research: Currently I am interested in how undergraduate students and life scientists differ in their explanations of molecular mechanisms. I use a qualitative approach.  Download the Explanations of Cellular Mechanisms project summary (PDF).
