Future Graduate Students

Thank you for your interest in graduate study in the Department of Biological Sciences at Purdue.

We have a vibrant graduate program that will prepare you for today's challenging academic, industry, and federal job markets. With nationally and internationally recognized faculty, our Department's research programs cover the gamut from understanding the structure of viruses to understanding the structure of ecological communities. Additionally, we actively foster a collegial climate among all members of the Department. Faculty collaborate across disciplines, and labs frequently share resources.

Our Faculty are well-known for their mentoring skills. Our graduate program has professional development courses to guide students in learning essential skills to be successful in research. Our graduate students have received multiple fellowships and research awards from different agencies and institutions, and are known for their ability to publish the results of their work in high impact journals (e.g., Science, Nature, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Proceedings of the Royal Society of London, etc.). Our program has several seminar series that allow graduate students to learn from experts from around the world as well as to enhance their professional networking.

Overall, our program will provide you with the opportunities to actively learn and develop multiple skills that will enhance your preparation for the job market.
