Dr. N. Reed Dunnick, M.D., is Chair of the Department of Radiology, University of Michigan.  His duties include patient care, teaching, research and service.  He became interested in this type of work because he was impressed with the impact of imaging on patient care and research.  He credits his Purdue experience with instilling in him a spirit of intellectual curiosity.   In addition, his experience at the NIH solidified the importance of research.

Dunnick encourages students to get experience working in a research lab and to volunteer in a hospital setting.   He notes that science is our future and will never go out of style.  Research is interesting and never becomes boring.  He encourages students to consider some innovative careers such as combining medicine and engineering.  You can learn more about radiology and related sciences at:  www.rsna.com.
