University Announcements from the Facilities Manager
Local Indiana growers and merchants will be on campus this summer at the Purdue Farmers Market, sponsored by Purdue Physical Facilities. Join us on Thursdays, June 4 — August 13, 2009, from 3 — 6:30 p.m., at Sheetz and Wood Streets, just west of Dick and Sandy Dauch Alumni Center.
Items expected for sale include fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, jams and jellies, fresh kettle-popped corn, homemade crafts, and annual and perennial plants. The number of growers and amount of produce on a given day depends on the natural progression of the growing season. To see what is in season and when you can expect some of your favorites, check out the produce calendar at: http://www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/farmersmarket.htm
Help keep the market “green” by bringing your re-usable bags to carry your purchases. OR become a “Friend of the Farmers Market” and purchase a reusable bag at the Market for $15. The bag features both the Farmers Market Logo and the Purdue Black and Gold and Green logos. As a Friend you will receive emails about special promotions and updates on when certain items come into season. All proceeds from bag sales are reinvested back into the Market.
In conjunction with the opening of the market on June 4, a Bloodmobile will be available on-site for patron donations.
If you are not able to visit the Purdue Farmers Market on Thursdays you can also visit these other Farmers Market locations:
• Lafayette Farmers Market. Open 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays May 1 to Oct. 31 on Fifth Street between Main and Columbia streets in downtown Lafayette. When the Purdue market closes for the season, the Lafayette market will open at 4-7 p.m. on Thursdays.
• Sagamore West Farmers Market. Open 3-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays May 6-Oct. 28 at Cumberland Park on Salisbury Street, West Lafayette.
