APPLICATION DEADLINES
All admitted domestic students are considered
for graduate appointments through their February 15 application
deadline. However, more flexibility in the type of support is possible
the earlier the application is completed.
All admitted international students are considered for graduate appointments through their January 31 application deadline. Please note that this is an earlier date than for domestic applicants.
DATES FOR ADMISSION DECISIONS
The Admissions Committee begins reviewing applications in January. Admissions
are done on a rolling basis. Applicants invited for an interview are
notified via phone and e-mail after each committee meeting. Once your
electronic application is completed online, you can check the status
of your application at http://www.gradschool.purdue.edu/Admissions,
as we are continually informing applicants of our admissions decisions.
On this site, click "Application for Admission." Note that
you will be required to provide your user pin and password.
DATES FOR ACCEPTING/DECLINING
OFFERS.
Purdue University is a member of the Association of American Universities
and the Council of Graduate Schools in the United States. Along with other
members of these associations, Purdue adheres to the following resolution:
"Acceptance of such an offer of financial support (such as a graduate scholarship, fellowship, traineeship, or assistantship) for the next academic year by a prospective or enrolled graduate student completes an agreement which both student and graduate school expect to honor. In that context, the conditions affecting such offers and their acceptance must be defined carefully and understood by all parties. Students are under no obligation to respond to offers of financial support prior to April 15; earlier deadlines for acceptance of such offers violate the intent of this Resolution. In those instances in which the student accepts the offer before April 15 and subsequently desires to withdraw that acceptance, the student may submit in writing a resignation of the appointment at any time through April 15th. However, an acceptance given or left in force after April 15 commits the student not to accept another offer without first obtaining a written release from the institution to which a commitment has been made. Similarly, an offer by an institution after April 15 is conditional on presentation by the student of the written release from any previously accepted offer. However, if you accept one offer from this Department and are offered another type of appointment within this department, you are free to make your choice of offers."
If an offer is made, we would appreciate hearing from you regarding your decision as soon as it is made. In asking a student for an early reply, we wish it understood that the Purdue University Graduate School and this department are not asking the student to relinquish any privilege, if it is felt necessary to wait until April 15, 2007. However, your early response would be helpful to us in planning for the coming year. Also if we know early that you are going to decline our offer, it enables us to extend an offer to another applicant. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
